The virtual impulse seminar offers an overview of technologies for increasing transparency in supply chains. We will give you an in-depth insight into the use of mobile sensor technology in the supply chain. You can look forward to an innovative technical solution for a networked, intelligent supply chain that integrates mobile sensors, gateways, 3D image processing, cloud platforms and digital services. As a result, quality-relevant environmental influences on the products as well as condition-relevant data from transports, such as geolocation, are continuously recorded and digitized with mobile and stationary sensors. Based on this data, digital services are provided for the companies involved, which help to identify transport problems at an early stage and provide further assistance in ensuring product and process quality.

The Digitalisation Dialogue is an event format organised by BHV - Bremische Hafen- und Logistikvertretung for a professional exchange on digitalisation topics in logistics. On December 4th 2024, the use of a helium drone for inventory management from the BIBA project DroneStock will be presented in this context. Together with our partner Nagel-Group, we will present how a helium drone is used for automatic pallet inventory in high-bay warehouses. Based on tests at Nagel-Group, we will demonstrate the functionality and results of this innovative solution.

In light of current economic and political developments, industrial SMEs are facing a wide range of challenges: A shortage of skilled labour, the energy transition, digital change and global crises must be mastered with limited resources. The aim of the event ‘Digital Innovation in Industry and SMEs: Artificial Intelligence as a Locational Advantage’ on November 26 in Bremerhaven is to initiate the transformation to a sustainable and resilient corporate structure by discussing strategies for dealing with these challenges and highlighting visions for the future through digitalisation and artificial intelligence.

The event is being organised by the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bremen-Oldenburg (partner of BIBA) together with BIS Bremerhaven and the Bremen Chamber of Commerce. From October 23 to 25, 2024, you can meet us and the LogDynamics research network at the BVL Supply Chain CX in Berlin, booth E/03. CX is the networking event for logistics and supply chain management. This is where decision-makers and other logistics enthusiasts from industry, trade, services and science meet. The LogDynamics association and BIBA will be taking part in the accompanying trade exhibition on the topic of digitalization in production and logistics. As a technological highlight, we will be exhibiting a collaborative cobot.

To get future scientists interested in engineering at an early stage, BIBA is once again taking part in the Technology Park's autumn internship programme. All school students who are interested in an exciting internship during the autumn holidays are warmly invited to apply.

You will gain exclusive insights into research projects with theoretical and practical components. By working in the laboratories and with the technical equipment, you will learn about research topics and methods and have the opportunity to apply them yourself. This year's focus will be on the topics of human-technology interaction and human-robot collaboration. Here, the students will learn how humans and robots can work hand in hand and safely in future workplaces without safety fences and will be involved in the programming of collaborative robots for production.

We look forward to working together with young researchers for a week!

In the interests of climate protection and energy transition, production and logistics, as the largest consumers of primary energy, must be persuaded to rethink: Away from compensation payments, towards the use of renewable energies, the application of efficiency technologies and the formation of flexibility measures. In this context, the BIBA - Bremen Institute of Production and Logistics is conducting research into future value creation in production and logistics systems based on a sustainable product life cycle. Circular economy and energy are key success factors here. One focus of this research is the integration of energy systems in production and logistics systems at product and process level, specifically in the area of the generation, storage and use of renewable energies in the electricity, heating and mobility sectors. During the guided tour in the BIBA research hall, we will explore the question of how climate-neutral, competitive production and logistics processes can be generated and implemented in order to create added value for society. BIBA will be present with LogDynamics at the joint stand of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and present the topic of digitalization in the maritime industry.
