Robot Drone for Inspection of Wind Turbines

InspectionCopter is a joint research project of BIBA, the Bremen robot gripper arm specialist AKON, the drone manufacturer Airstage and the Fraunhofer Institute for Additive Production Technologies IAPT which combines AI, robotics and 3D printing. An autonomous robot drone is to be developed which will independently inspect wind turbines for damage and simultaneously carry out lightning and drainage tests. Various wind turbines will serve as a test field, to which access will be made possible by BIBA's numerous contacts in the wind energy sector.
