Working at BIBA

From bachelor and master students to doctoral students and junior professors, BIBA offers all of them an attractive, supportive environment for their work and the development of their careers. Due to its close ties to the faculty of Production Engineering of the University of Bremen, BIBA is very much involved in the academic qualification of young engineers and provides multifaceted support.

Exciting topics for final papers constantly arise from the various projects and collaborations at the institute, as well as valuable offers for internships and exchange semesters. Furthermore, BIBA offers student assistant jobs to young engineers as an opportunity to develop key skills to supplement those gained over the course of their studies, to become involved in research projects, as well as to establish contacts in the world of science and industry.

After successfully completing their Bachelor’s and Master’s studies, students can continue their academic qualifications with a doctorate. This can be undertaken at BIBA with both specialist fields of the University’s Production Technology department, which are linked with BIBA. Doctors-to-be can take on teaching responsibilities and carry out independent project work over the course of their doctorate studies at BIBA. This not only gives them the chance to gain expert knowledge, but also skills in the areas of presentation, technology transfer, discussion, personnel and project management as well as in the fields of negotiation management and time management.

Young scientists are actively supported at BIBA. As an example, two junior professors have built up their research team since 2014 as part of the “Future Programme” at the University of Bremen, a winner of the German “Excellence Initiative”.
