Applied research and research-based learning are interesting, thinks Sylvia Novillo, a former doctoral candidate at the International Graduate School for Dynamics in Logistics. As a professor at the Universidad de Las Américas in Quito, Ecuador, she, therefore, pulled out all the stops to come to Bremen with a group of 15 students. With financial support from the DAAD, they came to Northern Germany in March for a two-week stay. On March 10 and 11, the group visited Bremen, first Jacobs University, and on the second day, the University of Bremen and BIBA. After a tour of the LogDynamics Lab and the BIBA Shop Floor Lab, the students presented their country, region, and aspects of teaching at UDLA in a joint talk that could be followed online via zoom. The presentation format was taken from a repertoire their professor had become familiar with during her time at IGS. These are good prospects for intensifying cooperation!

Dr. rer. pol. Sylvia Novillo is professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences and Chair of the Intelligent and Interactive Systems Laboratory (SI2Lab). UDLA is one of Ecuador's biggest and most important universities, with approximately 15,000 students, 41 undergraduate degrees, and 32 master's programs. It is ranked in the third position of the national universities according to the SCIMAGO Institute Rankings. It also has the Western Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation (WASC).
