Manufacturing companies are confronted with the challenges and opportunities of digitalization. At the same time, they are striving to produce sustainably and energy-efficiently. Some are asking themselves how they can do justice to the megatrends of digitalization and sustainability. Is it possible to combine both approaches? We explored this question - together with interested companies - in yesterday's workshop "Intelligent microgrids for an energy self-sufficient company" at BIBA.

In our learning factory, the guests had the opportunity to produce their own energy self-sufficient pizza. This illustrative and tasty example was used to demonstrate technologies, methods and concepts that contribute to a better assessment of the current situation in the company from an energy perspective in order to create a change towards more robust, sustainable and modern production systems. And if a tasty product is created in the process, all the better for the get-together following the workshop.

The workshop was organized by the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bremen-Oldenburg in cooperation with the BIBA and the EIT Manufacturing project SmartPower.
